Nirvana are among the most important bands in rock history. They were pioneers of grunge and made indie rock mainstream. In addition, she and her music became a mouthpiece for young people in the early 1990s. Her album "Nevermind" also made a major contribution to this. The milestone will celebrate its 30th birthday in 2021. Four special 30th Anniversary Editions are appearing to match.
"Nevermind" was originally released on September 24, 1991, two years after their debut "Bleach". It is the band's second studio album and also the first with drummer Dave Grohl, who had previously replaced Aaron Burckhard. The album was recorded by Grohl, singer Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic together with producer Butch Vig in the studios Sound City (Van Nuys, California) and Smart (Madison, Wisconsin). It comprises twelve tracks and 13 on later pressings (hidden track), of which the songs "Smells Like Teen Spirit", "Come As You Are", "Lithium" and "In Bloom" were released as singles.
"Nevermind" became an unexpected critical and commercial success. It peaked at number one on the US Billboard 200, selling approximately 300,000 times a week during that time. The lead single "Smells Like Teen Spirit" landed at number six on the US Billboard Hot 100, and in Germany even at number two. To date, the album has sold over 30 million times worldwide, making it one of the best-selling albums of all time.
For the new edition it has now been completely remastered from the original analog tapes and appears in the following anniversary configurations:
As an LP including a 7 “single . Here the LP version with the newly mastered album has been expanded to a premium tip-on gatefold jacket for the first time and contains a brand new 7-inch vinyl from "Endless, Nameless".
